AABA Invaders: Exploring the Black History of Joliet
Wednesday, May 27, 2026 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (CDT)
Description
History is more than something we study—it’s something we inherit, carry, and build upon. Join the African American Business Association of Will County (AABA) for our next AABA Invaders experience as we journey through the powerful stories of Black entrepreneurship, resilience, and economic agency in Joliet’s South End. Hosted at the historic Joliet Area Historical Museum, this immersive evening will explore the acclaimed “Routes of Agency” exhibit while uncovering the stories of the Black-owned businesses, community leaders, and informal networks that helped shape Joliet’s economic and cultural foundation. Featured guest H’Aeneise Coopwood will help guide a meaningful discussion connecting Joliet’s entrepreneurial past to the vision, leadership, and ownership being built by Black business leaders today. This is more than a museum visit—it’s an opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, honor those who came before us, and be inspired to continue building legacy in our own community. Bring your business cards, your curiosity, and your commitment to community. Seats are limited—RSVP today and be part of the story.Images
